About SEMCIL Workshops

SEMCIL workshops offer disabled community members the opportunity to increase their independent living skills in a group setting. The goal of these workshops is to teach a new skill or ability and assist individuals to become more independent or to maintain their independence. Examples of some of the workshops include:

  • Budgeting
  • Traveling with Disabilities
  • Accessing Public Transportation
  • Learn to Cook! Fall 2008 class schedule now available.
  • **NEW Accessing Assistive Technology

Another benefit that comes from offering workshops is that it often fosters an environment that encourages the participants to learn and support each other as peers. These groups offer socialization, community integration and the opportunity to learn and new skills. Some examples include:

  • Exercise class
  • Gardening group
  • Look good ~ Feel good
